The Christland Series is designed to help you understand more about who we are, how you can mature as a follower of Jesus, and how you can be involved in what God is doing here as one of the churches in Bryan College Station. We offer one session in the Series each month, and you may take them in any order. These classes are also part of our membership process.
Upcoming ClassJanuary 20, 12:00-2:00 pm
Foundational beliefs of the Christian faith, such as what we believe about God, sin, the Bible, and the cross, will be discussed in this class. The Bible is inerrant, given by God to man, and Jesus is the only way to God because of our sin. The second half of the class looks into how you can navigate the church. Biblical examples that inform how we worship and pray are explained. Baptism and Lord’s Supper are also discussed during this class. Baptism doesn't save a person, but is an essential first step in following Jesus. We believe in full immersion as that is Jesus' example in the Bible. The Lord's Supper is how Christians regularly remember that Jesus' life and death gave us new life.
Upcoming ClassFebruary 17, 12:00-2:00 pm
Freedom begins when Jesus saves a person, giving them power over temptation and sin. Freedom requires a belief in the truth from the Bible and a knowledge of the Holy Spirit’s role in revealing truth about our past. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, confession, and repentance, Christians can experience freedom in overcoming the sins we have committed and freedom from sin done against us. We see in the Bible a clear command to forgive others just as Jesus forgave us of our sin against Him. Jesus came to bring freedom not only for the next life, but that our lives now may be redeemed and full of joy.
Upcoming ClassMarch 17, 12:00-2:00 pm
God has empowered each Christian with specific spiritual gifts for the strengthening of our faith as a church family. This class reveals how we shift our outlook from consumer to community; during this class we discuss how spiritual gifts function in the church, how to connect your gifting to practical service, and how to honor Jesus with right motives in serving. Romans 12:6-8 reads, "Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, in proportion to our faith; if service, in our serving; the one who teaches, in his teaching; the one who exhorts, in his exhortation; the one who contributes, in generosity; the one who leads, with zeal; the one who does acts of mercy, with cheerfulness." We will discuss this passage and others learning how they relate to the local church.
Upcoming ClassApril 14, 12:00-2:00 pm
During Community we will discuss the history of Christland, looking at what it was like when Jesus first began calling us to become one of the churches in Bryan-College Station. The teaching will include our core values and priorities that make us who we are, such as being a multi-ethnic, multi-generational church, and the importance of worship and spiritual disciplines. We believe Jesus has asked us to be a church that plants churches throughout the United States and eventually overseas. We will also look at the Bible's instruction for Christians on membership. Finally, we will look at the Old Testament and New Testament for instruction on tithing. Our bylaws that describe all administrative practices of the church will be included as well.
Small groups are the place where the authentic, lifelong friendships are formed; the place where the Bible is discussed and applied in a casual atmosphere, where questions can be asked and stories shared. This is the place where it is safe to be yourself, where you can receive support and encouragement no matter your circumstance.
One of the best ways to get started is to talk with a pastor or small group leader, who can help you find a place to serve that interests you. Our "Serving" class can show you how to navigate where and why to serve; this class is a part of our Christland Series.
Typically held on the 1st Sunday of each month from 4-6pm, Team Christland is a monthly celebration for those who serve and is an important part of their commitment. At Team Christland, Sandor will share exciting announcements such as upcoming events, network news, and staff hires. We hear Bible teaching that points us in the direction we're going as a church, which equips us for the on-going, Spirit-led mission. We also worship together and pray for each other.
